Workshop 1: Am I bad, mad, sad or really just an imposter? 10 critical things every audiology professional should know to prevent imposterism and burnout
1300 - 1615

1300 - 1430
Workshop 1
Am I bad, mad, sad or really just an imposter? 10 critical things every audiology professional should know to prevent imposterism and burnout

Burnout is a job-related condition leading to emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, and reduced personal accomplishment. The short and long-term consequences of burnout can be extensive. Irrespective of career stage, the sensitive nature of the role of an audiologist is susceptible to Burnout.

A recent problem that emerged in the news is Imposterism, a feeling of phoniness despite all evidence of belonging. It is no surprise that work-related mental health is now a top priority of the Occupational Health and Safety strategy (2002-2012)*, currently in its implementation phase.

Designed for audiologists, you will be exposed to the latest research in audiology dealing with Imposterism and Burnout. Participants will be guided through exercises to recognise and remedy immediate and longer terms strategies by introducing them to the Imposterism and Burnout Toolkit. Participants will be invited to commit to the Accountability Pledge.

Workshop 2: Working with the Hearing Services Program
1645 - 1945

Workshop 2 Overview
Record keeping is fundamental to every element of an audiology business. Your records describe your clinical procedures, document your client outcomes and detail your HSP compliance.

In 2012 the HSP adopted a risk-based compliance approach, shifting away from a focus on prescriptive clinical protocols. It recognised the hearing care sector had matured over the decades and agreed the Professional Practice Bodies (PPB’s) were responsible for the clinical competencies of individual practitioners. This workshop will explore your clinical role in determining and documenting positive hearing health outcomes for all your HSP clients.

The HSP responsibility is to ensure compliance with contractual requirements. As HSP practitioners you not only play a critical role in achieving the best outcomes for your clients, but also in supporting the business to ensure program compliance. This workshop will inform you about your responsibilities for audit and administration of the HSP Voucher Scheme.

Learning Outcomes:
  1. To improve written record-keeping as integral to clinical best practice
  2. To better inform participants of the aims and objectives of the Scope of Practice
  3. To increase knowledge of the key requirements of the 2019 HSP legislation and the Service Provider Contract
  4. To inform participants of the HSP audit process
