From concept to clinical practice: Implementing a person- and family-centred approach when working with adults who have hearing loss
The purpose of this interactive workshop is to provide participants with an in-depth understanding of the nature of client-centred care in audiologic rehabilitation, as well as to learn and discuss strategies to effectively implement client-centred care into the rehabilitation process. The barriers and facilitators affecting clinical implementation will also be explored. Through the presentation of data extracts and videos, participants will have the opportunity to reflect on current practice, as well as develop creative solutions to fostering collaborative partnerships with clients. The adoption of a client-centred care approach in hearing rehabilitation has the potential to improve outcomes for adults with hearing impairment.
1. Identify opportunities to apply person-centred principles into their clinical consultations with adult clients.
2. List strategies and rehabilitation options that engage clients and address client needs.
3. Recognise the barriers and facilitators to implementing these strategies and adjust their clinical environment and behaviours to facilitate client-centred care.
