Overview
Cerumen impaction is a common presentation to Audiologists in the audiology clinic. Cerumen production is normal and does not require treatment unless it is symptomatic. In most cases, ears are self-cleaning of cerumen. However, some individuals may have ear canals that do not enable the migration of cerumen or have excessive cerumen production. In these instances, cerumen management is required using either curette or suction techniques.
This workshop addresses the need for audiologists to provide wax removal by the techniques of micro suction and curettage enabling them to perform these services within their practice.

Overview
Hearing devices are no longer just “aids” – they are intricate computers that form part of a much larger “hearing ecosystem”. The purpose of this masterclass is to examine how we currently evaluate this ecosystem, examine whether our current techniques are adequate and introduce some new thoughts, ideas and techniques to embrace and evaluate the modernity of current hearing instruments.
This workshop provides an interactive, hands-on demonstration in advanced hearing instrument verification. It is designed for clinicians who know and apply the basics of verification and are looking at “upping their game”. It will begin with a review on why we verify and how verification has evolved over the years. It will also provide a taster for the future, exploring self-fitting and most interestingly self-verifying hearing devices.
The concepts of advanced hearing instrument verification and why we should consider these options will be introduced through “case studies” of real-world situations where we explore what is possible to investigate the problem and verify the solution. Participants will rotate through several “verification stations” to experience how to apply these techniques using a comprehensive range of the hearing aid brands and REM equipment available in Australia (Aurical, MedRx, Affinity).
Duration: 1.5 hours

Overview
To support clinicians to structure their clinical history, audiological test battery, client needs and personal observations in a manner that defines the client’s gestalt. The workshop will help clinicians crystalise information into a report for a specific professional (doctor, specialist or allied health) to ensure your recommendations are received positively.
The session will facilitate discussion and interaction amongst participants about how to structure reports and letters on clients, particularly those with complex needs, to ensure their audiological goals are achieved. It will be led by a panel of experienced clinicians and include a series of small group case studies where participants are asked to collate pieces of audiological information into a cohesive story. This workshop will take your written skills to the next level and enable you to support your clients to achieve their desired outcomes.

Overview
This session provides the opportunity to engage with the NDIA. The aim is to unpack the challenges of working with the NDIS and facilitate streamlined processes to ensure the needs of hearing-impaired clients are met. It will focus on the definition of “functional outcomes” in an audiological framework, ways to word these in reports, and how audiologists can assist clients to achieve them.
The live pre-workshop webinar (and PDF handout) will detail the NDIA processes and procedures. This online activity is integral to the workshop and will not be available as a recording. The interactive workshop will promote discussion with an NDIA audiologist who will explain key concepts and the phrases needed to formulate them for your individual client. It will detail why funding requests are rejected and talk about how to do things differently. The small group activities will focus on writing case studies for the NDIA, including guidance on completing the AT template in a fast, effective manner that sets your client up for success.
